Splendid is a ground-breaking initiative designed to build the culture of experimentation and interdisciplinary arts practice in Australia by facilitating opportunities for young and emerging artists to conceptualise and create new art and performance for festival audiences.
Splendid is an idea that emanated out of the lush festival laden Northern Rivers region of New South Wales. The program was developed by partner organisations Lismore Regional Gallery, NORPA (Northern Rivers Performing Arts) and Arts Northern Rivers, and supported by one of Australia’s largest music, arts and youth festivals, Splendour in the Grass, and the Australia Council for the Arts, through their Opportunities for Young and Emerging Artists Program.
Splendid is unique for its focus on cross-art-form collaboration and connection with festival culture. Participating artists are invited to embrace this challenging and exhilarating context as a springboard to take their creative practices to a new level.
